Machen’s The Great God Pan

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Funny coincidence that Grim Blogger should post up some news about an upcoming performance of Arthur Machen’s “The Great God Pan”, as my current reading is a collection of Machen stories.  Machen was a big influence on Lovecraft, and this story was one of Machen’s more acclaimed stories.

Dreams in the Witch House reviewed

Friday, October 26th, 2007

Seattle Weekly has just posted up a review of “Dreams in the Witch House”, a collection of Lovecraft stories performed on stage, and unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be all that we had hoped for.

Compared to years past, however, there is something lacking here. Many of the scenes feel halfhearted or overly goofy. Whereas past productions have succeeded in creating a full and nearly anaerobic environment of Lovecraftian terror, here the cracks show.

HPL’s The Colour Out of Space on stage

OCT: The Colour Out of SpaceOpen Circle Theater in Seattle, WA, presents H.P. Lovecraft’s The Colour Out Of Space!

OCT is presenting a stage production of 3 HPL stories: The Thing on the Doorstep, Strange Magicks, and The Colour Out of Space. Showings are from Oct 6 - Nov 11.

I love watching good stage productions, and throwing HPL in there is just too freakin cool! Check out what the Seattle Weekly has to say about it:

Theater on a shoestring doesn’t get any shoestringier than this; the show’s a triumph of imagination and skill over a tiny budget—or as Lovecraft would have put it, a budget infinitesimal, unspeakable, and unholy, which no sane creature could endure!!
