ShockTillYouDrop.com has written up a mini history/autopsy of “Fear Itself”, formerly “Masters of Horror”. I rather enjoyed the few “Masters of Horror” works that I have seen, and really do intend on picking up a few more.

Essentially, Masters of Horror, a series that struggled to return to Showtime for a third season, was packaged in ‘07 with a new title. It found a new home at NBC under the moniker Fear Itself with Lionsgate committed to take over home video distribution duties.

To all my readers, Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m fairly certain I have at least a few things I can be thankful for today. My life isn’t completely terrible or unlivable. I have friends, loved ones, and a great cat. My artistry isn’t completely suck ass. And for the most part, I do have my health. (When I’m not trying to break myself)

I hope all of you are in good health, happy spirits, and things are going well!

I think we can all say, I’m thankful H.P. Lovecraft was wrong…

Star Trek Trailer Analysis

Lets see… How can I tie in trailer for the new Star Trek movie into this Lovecraft/Pulp/Cthulhu based blog? Well, Geeks of Doom does mention a Cthulhu like beast that Kirk ends up fighting! How bout that?

Actually, Star Trek (the original series) was for the most part a pulp story, or set of stories. Captain Kirk and his adventures were pretty much 1940’s pulp thrown into space. Can you really get any better than that?

Re-Inventing “Re-Animator”

JustPressPlay has up a short blurb about a Re-Animator series in the works! Hopefully, it’ll be as entertaining as the movie, but with enough material/character development to sustain it as a show, and not just relying on the name to hold it up.

Bloody-Disgusting received a casting breakdown for a pilot shooting next April called Herbert West: Re-Animator the Series, describing the title character (and, in essence, the show) as “Frankenstein for the new millenium.” A rather ironic description, seeing how Lovecraft hated writing Re-Animator, only doing it for the money and deliberately making it an ultra-violent parody of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

Cthulhu Rising!

IO9 has a sneak peak at a new game coming out from game designer extraordinaire, Reiner Knizia, called Cthulhu Rising! While the sneak peak shows us that the Cthulhu theme is rather loosely applied to its math game based core, the art looks to be something worth checking out.

I assure you, that the recent lack of posts has nothing to do with yesterday’s launch of Blizzard’s World of Warcraft expansion “Wrath of the Lich King”. Instead, it has to do with my super busy schedule, and the holiday season is only making it worse. Fortunately, I can find stuff like L. Ron Hubbard Pulp Fiction on the YouTubes for potentially taking up even more of my time!

Galaxy Press has launched a video channel on YouTube ( www.youtube.com/goldenagestories) containing entertaining, original content dedicated to the newly-released 150-story, 80-plus novel pulp fiction series, “Stories from the Golden Age,” all authored by master storyteller L. Ron Hubbard during the 1930s and 40s.

Philly.com has posted up a rather good looking list of horror movies and shows on DVD, both old and new, along with a short description of each. The DVDs are sorted into categories such as Classic, TV, Asian, European, and English-speaking. Personally, I want to see “The Machine Girl”!

Suspense: The Dunwich Horror

Happy Halloween, everyone!

TheyStoleFrazier’sBrain has an mp3 up from the old 40’s radio show “Suspense” in which they adapted H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Dunwich Horror”!

Even when it seems there’s something uncanny going on, it usually turns out to be a plot or a hoax, much like Inner Sanctum Mysteries. But this Halloween episode from Nov. 1, 1945 is different. It’s an adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Dunwich Horror.”

Stuart Gordon’s Stuck

Straight.com has up a review of Stuart Gordon’s “stuck”, a horror movie that sounds entertaining and fun.

While roaming the streets in search of shelter, he gets struck by, and attached to, a speeding car. The impaired operator refuses to stop, setting off Stuck’s engrossing study of psychotic indifference and selfishness.
