Comic 89: The Transition of Juan Romero - Part 1
Monday, October 16th, 2006This is one of H.P. Lovecrafts earlier works. I rather enjoyed this story, and thought it would be a good one to start off using an idea I had. Actually, this is putting two ideas into effect. The first idea was to try out using characters inspired from a poster ad I saw on the subway in Boston. The second idea was to put some of Lovecraft’s stories into comic form. I know its been done, but I want to try my hand at it.
The characters’ form on which I decided on, is quite simple to draw. In fact one problem is keeping everything else simplified as well. The odd thing I’ve found, is that this took a lot more work than some of the more “complicated” pieces I’ve done. Why? Its all the dang text! Text layout sure takes a while to get just right, and I’m not completely happy with my text layout as it is. Well, I’m never satisfied with my work.
So, I hope you enjoy part one of my rendition of H.P. Lovecraft’s “The Transition of Juan Romero”. Seven more parts are planned to follow, and should be much more interesting than this first one.
The Transition of Juan Romero was written when Lovecraft’s interest in fiction, some years dormant, was once more revived, and only a few years before he began the main body of his fiction.

Thanks Mary!
I almost wish I could draw them all at once so I can see the whole thing, right now, in one sitting.

I’m excited about this storyline. I can’t wait to see the following pages!
BTW, I had a great time in Salem last weekend. Didn’t make a ton of money, but I had a fun time and met some great people. Maybe I’ll see you there next year?

Thanks! I was going to ask you how that went. I sure hope I’m there next year!
