I love asian mythology. Maybe it has to do with me being half Japanese, or maybe it just has to do with the fact that I grew up with some totally freakin awesome Japanese ghost stories! Needless to say, I find this Thai commercial for Sylvania light bulbs to be one of my most favorite commercials, ever.

Brilliant! My brother lives in Japan and when I visited him we went to the nearby town of Sakaiminato where Shigeru Mizuki comes from. He uses a lot of the Japanese folklore ghosts in his comic and the whole town is like a museum to him with large murals, a museum and a street lined with 100 bronze statues of his characters. The ghosts in the clip reminded me of them a lot. Unfortunately, I haven`t been able to get any of his work here in Europe, but well worth checking out!
btw I love the site!
I love those Japanese ghosts. I was there in 85/86 New Years time and I remember going to see a cartoon movie that involved a boy and just about every Japanese ghost available. It might have been based on Shigeru Mizuki’s works… I’m not too sure. Good stuff, though.
