Movie Review: The Fountain

The FountainThis weekend, I finally watched “The Fountain”. How I managed to first miss it in the theaters, then not watch it till now, I have no idea. The movie is an amazing work of art filled excellent acting, beautiful images, and a great story. Its so much better than my brief, brief review will tell.

The visuals are stunning. The recurring rings, golden lights, and fractals are everywhere but beautifully done, and in a way thats not entirely over obvious. The scenes are well laid out, with more than a few breathtaking sights.

The acting is superb. Hugh Jackman has probably done his best performance here. At least, its one of the best acted, movie I’ve seen in a long while. I actually found “The Fountain” to be a “hard movie” to watch at times. What I mean by that, is that some parts were so fille with emotion, it was tough on the heart to see. Thats how good this movie is.

And then theres the ending. I’m not going to blow it for anyone, but lets just say it was pretty mind blowing. Wow.

“The Fountain” is a story of Life, Death, and Love, that everyone should see. That said, like a David Lynch film, its not going to be appreciated, nor understood by everyone. I’d definitely put this movie in the non-mainstream category. This one easily makes it into my top movies list.
