What a curious thing.
“Alice at R’lyeh” is a fun little poem by Murray Ewing about young Alice, who having come back from Wonderland, finds herself at the corpse-city R’lyeh. It’s a good little read, with some fun illustrations. You can find the poem and illustrations online, download the PDF version, or download some wallpapers for your computer.
Someone has found and dug up a Victorian time capsule from 1850! The BBC has some neat photos and a little bit that you can read about each one. I wonder if mine are still out there…

It’s time again for After Dark Horrorfest!
AFDf #4 will be out in theaters Jan 29 – Feb 4. Get ready for another batch of horror! Some good, and some bad. Well… Seems like mostly bad sometimes, but there’s always some winners in there. This year’s fest just happens to feature a film from master of horror, Clive Barker!
Clive Barker’s “Dread” looks like it’ll be one of this year’s better movies. I’ve always been partial to Mr. Barker’s stuff, so I might be predicting a better outcome, but I have high hopes for “Dread”. You can watch the trailer at this link.
Another possible winner, is “Zombies of Mass Destruction”. This one sounds like it’ll be entertaining. I mean, just check out this little blerb here:
A conservative island community is under attack! Port Gamble, Washington is being overrun with braineaters, and the people seem powerless to stave them off. One of the things I can’t resist is to visit the comic shop that neighbors the barber immediately after getting my heir trimmed. Well, today, I seem to have run across a little bit of luck, as I was rummaging through the “Dollar” comics, reminiscing fondly of the days of my youth spent reading comics in the 80’s and playing Dungeons and Dragons. As I was flipping through some of the Marvel “New Mutants” comics, I happened upon a rather Lovecraftian image of a Cthulhuvian statue guarding a city in the sea. While not quite in the Pacific, just south of the Bermuda Triangle, it still is rather reminiscent of R’lyeh.

I was spawned uncounted aeons ago, in the dark mists of Khhaa’yngnaiih (no, of course I don’t know how to spell it. Write it as it sounds), of nameless nightmare parents, under a gibbous moon. It wasn’t the moon of this planet, of course, it was a real moon. On some nights it filled over half the sky and as it rose you could watch the crimson blood drip and trickle down its bloated face, staining it red, until at its height it bathed the swamps and towers in a gory dead red light.
Those were the days.
Or rather the nights, on the whole. Our place had a sun of sorts, but it was old, even back then. I remember that on the night it finally exploded we all slithered down to the beach to watch. But I get ahead of myself.
