Dagon and The Yellow Sign
This weekend was not only Thanksgiving weekend, but it was also a very HPL weekend for me! I finally watched “Dagon”, and “The Yellow Sign”. Not to mention the two games of “Arkham Horror” we played!
Dagon is a pretty good movie that follows HPL’s story fairly well. The acting isn’t always the best, and the CGI is noticibly CGI, but the movie follows HPL fairly well. Theres some fun parts where normal items are used in emergency situations, and things don’t go always as planned, true to life just as it should be. Its nice to see a movie where the hero doesn’t just find an axe just lieing around for immediate use. Dagon is a fun experience, and is a definite must see for the HPL fan.
The Yellow Sign, from Aaron Vanek, is a bit like watching a cheap TV or community theater production. The acting in this one is really not high caliber, and the production value of the filming is pretty low. Yet, even with these going against it, The Yellow Sign has a really good story. The good story is enough to save this movie from the rejected bin. In fact, I recommend this movie for any HPL fan. Its not a bad movie at all, and is really a good piece for any fans of The King in Yellow related works.
If you get a chance to see either movie, I’d recommend taking that opportunity. Just remember that production costs and acting skills are not the only factors to making a good movie!
And ignore IMDB’s 2.1/10 score for the King in Yellow. It deserves a bit more than that.

Welcome to my little page, Aaron. Despite my coming off as a bit harsh or critical, I really enjoyed your film quite a bit. I place it pretty high on my list of good HPL related films.
I was wondering about the aspect ratio issue. I thought it was just my expensive DVD player just being crappy again.
Thanks for stopping by. I look forward to checking out your other films.
